Here are some video critiques from our session on Monday doing Power Snatch + OH Squat. Overall we are making great progress. We have already had several people set PR's and other people are doing movements and lifts they did not have the ability to complete a month ago. But as the videos show, we still have a lot of improving to do. Be proud of your progress, and don't be discouraged by the fact that there is always something you can do better in Olympic lifting. The performance of these lifts is an Olympic Sport, obviously they are very difficult. You don't earn Olympic Medals for performing feats that are inherently easy to do. So keep up the good work and get better every time you come into the gym.
Here is our recommendation for the second wod of the week. This is what we would prefer you do when you wod on Friday or Saturday.
15 min AMRAP
7 - Toe-To-Bar
7 - Dynamic Push Up (2 bumpers for men, 1 bumper for women)
7 - KB Half Moons (35/24)
21 - Double Unders
Here is a video of KB Half Moons Demo 1. The KB must go over and back to complete 1 rep, so it will pass overhead twice per rep and 14 times per round.EDIT: After a group of us tried this move out in warm ups today at lunch, we decided that every time the KB touched the ground should count as a rep. So the KB will only go over head 7 times per round. Each rep should have your arms fully extended overhead, don't short the range of motion.
Figured I throw this out; If you guys will use it I will build the Oly Club wods on BTWB. I don't have admin credentials, but I can build the wod in a way that everyone can post their results to it. Let me know what everyone wants.
On another note, I am looking into getting a batch of Oly Club t-shirts made up. I have an idea of what to put on the first batch, but would be open to any slogans or sayings you guys would like to see on them.
I know there are several of us posting on BTWB already. It's not to hard to build them and some have already been in there. So either way, if you have time great, if not I think we can manage. Would love to see what you have in mind for the shirts. I know I would love to sport it around :) Also which bumper are we suppose to use for the Push ups?
I think the shirts should say " if at first you dont succeed, try, try again. So you should try that one again. " Just kidding. But I do like the idea of the shirts. Also, Im big on convenience. If the WOD is already created for me, I'll put it in. Otherwise I won't. No big deal either way
Hey Cody, don't know if you'll see this before you post for Monday but we'd appreciate recommendations from you guys on what sectionals competitors should do for Thur wod. i can't remember if i scaled the Thur wods or if i took off Thur and Fri through the season.
Please not that we changed the counting scheme for the half moons in the wod.
